ENTRANCE MUSIC: "Thunderstruck" by ACDC
ENTRANCE DESCRIPTION: The opening guitar of "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC starts to play and the fans start to chant "Na Na-Na Na Na-Na Na Na!" over and over with the all-to-familiar guitar chords. The lights in the arena flash on and off for a few seconds before staying off. On the first "Thunder" the lights starts flashing on and off again. On the second "Thunder" Terry comes out onto the stage with a Canadian flag in his hands, the crowd now cheering loudly, stopping just before the ramp.
Terry waves the flag in big swoops from side to side a few times before resting it on his shoulder and walking down the ramp. Terry slaps hands on the way down and stops in the middle of the ramp, dropping down to his knees. Terry holds his flag in the air with one arm as red and white pyros blast in rapid succession at the top of the ramp from side to side a few times over.
Terry then jumps to his feet and dashes down the rest of the way to the ring. He then slides in under the bottom ropes, turning to his back and then kipping up to his feet in one fluid motion as he slides into the middle of the ring, red and white pyros going off on each ring post as he does. He then shows off his flag one more time to the crowd before placing it on the outside by his corner.
DESCRIPTION: Terry is a cocky man from Toronto who has been idolizing wrestling his whole life. He is now very lean and muscular after his time away from the AWA. Terry is Caucasian and his eyes are brown. Terry used to have long, brown hair, but, since his return, he has sported a short haircut that is gelled in front to stick straight out for an inch. He has also grown a finely cut beard (like HBK's).
Type of Wrestler: All Around (Submissions/High Flying/Technical/Striking). Terry was originally a High Flying and Technical wrestler, but after his recent foray into MMA and his time spent around the world honing his wrestling skills, Terry has become an all around force. His original style is still prominent, but it is now supported by a very strong striking and submissive style. Terry is also constantly working on mastering as many submissions as he can, as is seen with his fourth finisher, Caught in The Storm. Above all else, one of Terry's greatest strengths is his quickness.
Match Writer's Note: Terry should be winning by submission most of the time now.
RING ATTIRE:
In-Ring Attire: Terry wears black spandex with "You've been" written down the side of his left leg and "Thunderstruck" written down the side of his right in gold. He has no shirt and wears tight, black boots with lightning bolts down each side.
Out of Ring Attire: Terry usually wears jeans and a customized black muscle shirt. Designs of this muscle shirt include:
Thunder Strike Design: "Thunder CAN strike twice!" written in gold on the back and a lightning bolt streaking across the front.
Electrifying Design: "Terry 'The Storm' James" written in gold on the front and "High-Flying and Electrifying!" written in gold on the back with small lightning bolts streaking below.
Thunder and Lightning Design: "You May Hear The Thunder..." written in gold on the front and "...But You Can't Stop The Lightning!" written in gold on the back.
Caught in The Storm Design: "Tap out. Choke out. Break your bones." written in red and white spiky letters on the front and "Those are your options when you get Caught in the Storm." written in red and white spiky letters on the back.
TYPE OF WRESTLER: All Around
PRIMARY FINISHER: Lightning
PRIMARY FINISHER DESCRIPTION: Terry catches his opponent in a standing arm triangle and very quickly and explosively twists him to the mat face-first in a modified inverted Russian leg sweep (Downward Spiral), keeping the opponent in a tight arm triangle submission and locking his legs around their body to keep their legs trapped. (The end position has Terry supporting himself on his side, so he is not in a direct pinning predicament.) (NOTE: This is rarely, if ever, broken! If any submissions are to be broken, preferably use the ones not listed as finisher, but for sure don't use this one.)
ALTERNATE FINISHER: Several
ALTERNATE FINISHER DESCRIPTION:
SECOND FINISHER: Thunder Strike
SECOND FINISHER DESCRIPTION: Super Kick. This can and will be hit out of pretty much anywhere.
THIRD FINISHER: Thunder Bolt
THIRD FINISHER DESCRIPTION: A Sharpshooter with an Ankle Lock applied on the free leg under Terry's arm.
FOURTH FINISHER: Caught in The Storm
FOURTH FINISHER DESCRIPTION: This is a submission finisher. However, this finisher is different from most in that it is not always the same submission that puts away Terry's opponent. HISTORY: Terry was a big wrestling fan growing up, seeing every televised show and all the pay per views. He never missed a beat on the wrestling world and as he went through high school he joined a group of teenagers in a household wrestling league. It was not for money or fame. It was just for fun. Terry often found himself the winner of matches between his friends. It was all going good through high school and college, and then it suddenly got better. One day Terry was off to the house where they wrestled when he happened to stumble into Jack Broloskov. Jack looked Terry up and down and said he was a good size for a wrestler. Terry then told him of the group of friends and his small wrestling league and Jack instantly became interested. He then told Terry he was looking to manage someone to go into the AWA. Of course Terry was very interested and invited him to watch his match. After seeing Terry wrestle, Jack knew he had his man. He trained Terry for a year before bringing him to the AWA to start a wrestling career.
Terry quickly found a tag team partner, Xtreme Jeff, and the two formed The Canucks. In their first run they did not do so well and Terry was injured badly in a match, along with his manager and tag team partner. Terry came back, several months later, without his manager to get the career he wants. He quickly got back with Xtreme Jeff and reformed The Canucks once more. This would be the beginning of a great run for the two, who gained the tag team titles soon after reforming and held them for an impressive 70 days.
After losing their tag team titles to the EMTs, Low and Lars Fredrickson, Jeff and Terry separated. Terry went on to take the United States championship away from Logan Alexander and it all seemed to be coming together for the man from Toronto. But, a few weeks after winning the United States title, his tag team partner returned. Only he returned with John Rourke instead of returning with Terry James, forming the Order of Renewal. Terry has now become a man filled with anger as his best friend has left him. He vouched to get back at his former tag team partner.
On his quest to get back at Jeff, Terry ended up in a three-way rivalry for the United States title with Logan Alexander and Hellraisin' Holly. A "final" encounter was set up for the title. Just as the match would have began, Xtreme Jeff came out and announced he would be the special guest referee. After a great match, Terry found himself on the losing side. He chased his former best friend all the way to the parking lot, only to get practically run over by Jeff himself. However, it was all a set-up as The Canucks announced their surprising return a week later on Shock. The very same night, they won the tag team titles back from The EMT's and are now looking to have yet another impactful run.
After regaining the tag team titles, The Canucks shocked the AWA again by joining forces with Logan Alexander. The three men became the Elite Canadian wrestlers and went on a rampage through the AWA.
One Shock before the King of the Kage saw The Canucks lose their titles after a long 77 day reign. However, both Logan and Terry were in the King of the Kage tournament. Unfortunately, both ECW members were knocked out in the first round. Terry was literally knocked out after he landed awkwardly on his head from a top rope German suplex. Logan lost narrowly to Low, the 2006 King of the Kage. It certainly wasn't a bad showing by either man. In fact, Terry James ended up being cheered during his match. This sparked a new outlook on the way Terry went about the AWA. Terry decided to give the fans what the wanted: a good show and a good match every week.
Just a week after King of the Kage, Terry attained the cruiserweight championship in a match with Javex Valerius, Tom Dudely and the former champion, Jayson Price. Shortly after, he ran into Chris Freytag, an AWA upstart, but a veteran of wrestling. Terry gained a clean victory in a singles match over Freytag to solidify his status as the cruiserweight champion. However, Freytag stayed in the title picture. Terry allowed this, but added in another piece to the puzzle by challenging Jeff Christianson to a Canadian Death Match, along with Freytag. The match took place at Classic and saw all three men unable to get up afterwards. Christianson managed to push himself up at the count of 9, if only for a moment, to win the match. On the same night, however, the wrestling world was once again shocked by ECW, who added two new members and regained one more at Classic. ECW now stood strong with Jayson Price, Preston Alway and Xtreme Jeff joining Terry James and Logan Alexander in the dominant stable.
Just one week after losing the title to Christianson, Terry won it back on Shock. The two time champion then faced off against Freytag once more. This time Freytag had challenged Terry to a ladder match at Overpower. However, The Storm prevailed once again as he won the match and ended the feud with Chris Freytag for good. Terry would soon enter into a feud with Javex Valerius, however, and, after winning their first encounter, would lose the cruiserweight championship to his crafty rival in their second meeting.
After losing the cruiserweight championship, Terry began to head into a slump. However, the slump truly began when Logan Alexander surprised everyone by leaving ECW and siding with Low. Terry and Jayson Price remained loyal to one another, but soon the three came to blows in a Triple Threat No Limits Iron Man Match at Wrestlefest VIII. The match was brutal and saw Logan Alexander coming out victorious by just one victory in the last few minutes. Terry continued on with his mixed record until coming up to Hell on Earth, where he placed third in a twenty-man Hell Bowl Lottery tournament, defeating his old ECW ally, Jayson Price, and Snake in a tag team qualifying match, then outlasted seven other men in an over-the-top battle royal with no rules and a steel cage only a few feet away from the edge of the ring.
However, after this strong showing, Terry began to go into another slump. He received title shots for the No Limits, World and Tag Team Championships, only to lose them all to Logan Alexander, NHL and The Association, respectively. Terry did win the Cruiserweight Championship from AWA Hall of Famer, John Williams, in a triple threat match that also included Mark Cross. However, he ended up losing the title just two weeks later to Mark Cross in another triple threat match, which included AWA newcomer, T-Jay. After this loss, Terry left the AWA for an indefinite amount of time.
Over a year after his last match in the AWA, Terry James returned to the AWA as a new and improved wrestler. During his time away from the AWA, Terry had been training hard to improve himself after his slumping behavior at the end of his previous AWA activity. Terry spent the majority of his time adding new elements to his game, training himself in Mixed Martial Arts. In the end, Terry's MMA training gave Terry whole new levels of striking and submissive abilities. However, Terry also spent time improving his wrestling skills by competing in organizations around the world and is now very well rounded. The Canuck also put on nine additional pounds of muscle, allowing him to perform more heavy lifting required for suplexes. With a brand new devastating finisher, a myriad of match-ending submissions being mastered and a whole new inventory of strikes, suplexes and submissions, Terry is looking to tear through the AWA like never before.
On his return to the AWA, Terry accepted an open challenge to the AWA World Heavyweight Championship that was issued by his long-time rival, Logan Alexander. After racking up wins in his first few weeks, Terry received his first loss since his return from Logan Alexander submitting his tag team partner, Jason Storm. Regardless, Terry James and Logan Alexander fought the very next week at No More Drama with the World Championship on the line. Terry lost a back and forward war, never being pinned and never tapping, but instead passing out inside a triangle choke from Logan. Terry went back to his winning ways the next few weeks, securing another title shot in just his second match after losing to Logan. The two fought again the next week, with Terry noticeably improving and even having Logan beat for a good portion of the match. Unfortunately for Terry, a turned decision from the ref interrupted a celebration from Terry, who thought he finally won the World Title. This lead to Logan catching Terry off-guard and getting the pin, shutting down Terry’s title hopes once again.
However, Terry didn’t let the loss get to him and continued with a new goal: to become the 2008 King of the Kage. After losing, indirectly, a few matches to Brian Stevens in the weeks before King of the Kage, many believed Terry was in over his head. However, Terry disproved all of the naysayers when he beat NHL to advance to the finals of the tournament and gave Brian Stevens one of the most challenging matches he’s ever had. Alas, Terry did lose, but not before showing the AWA that Terry James is a legitimate top level competitor with a lot of heart and skill.
