ENTRANCE DESCRIPTION: (Red floodlights replace the normal arena lighting as crimson engulfs the entire stadium. The opening screech of the power chords of White Zombie's 'Super Charger Heaven' shrilly echoes through the P.A. system as the AWA faithful hit their feet in unison cheers.)
Yeah Jesus lived his life in a cheap hotel
On the edge of Route 66 yeah
He lived a dark and twisted life
And he came right back just to do it again
(Halfway through the first stanza, El Diablo steps out from the back, his face hidden behind his mask and head lowered.)
Eye for an eye And tooth for the truth
I ain't never seen a demon-warp dealin'
A ring-a-ding rhythm and juke-box racket
My mind can't clutch the feeling
(Just as the first rapid verse ends and the chorus begins, a loud pyro explosion goes off in front of Ortega as towers of flames shoot up from the ramp and side stage, briefly forming a blazing wall.)
Yeah Devil man Devil man Callin'
Devil man Runnin' in my head Yeah
Yeah Devil man Devil man Callin'
Devil man Runnin' in my head Yeah
(As the flames subsides, Ortega steps through the smoldering smoke and pauses, taking time to soak up the moment and bring his eyes around the arena, reveling in the cheering crowd. The red lights fuse into normal lighting as the smoke rises to the roof.)
Super lions leap at the cowardly kings
Carryin' souls 'cross theriver Styx Yeah
They see no evil and feel no pain
Suckin' juice from a fallen angel
(Ortega begins the stroll to the stage, focusing on his opponent within the ropes now with a confident smirk on his face.)
I dreamed I was a super-nova fucker
Nitro burn and fuel-injection
Feed the gods a strike-9 soul
A mother-fucker of invention
(Orlando slides into the ring and immediately heads to the top of the nearest turnbuckle, being sure to watch his back for his opponent. He raises his arms, crossing his wrists, and clinches his fists, as his loyal fans give him the sign back. Flashbulbs pepper the backdrop before Ortega hops down to prepare for the match.)
Yeah Devil man Devil man Callin'
Devil man Runnin' in my head Yeah
Yeah Devil man Devil man Callin'
Devil man Runnin' in my head Yeah
DESCRIPTION: Orlando is a bronze skinned, well tanned Colombian. While Ortega is relatively young, and looks it, he keeps his face hidden behind his red 'El Diablo' mask. His dark, black hair reaches down past his shoulders, which he keeps in a ponytail outside of the ring, but wets down for matches. He has small tattoo of a crucifix on his left arm and a tiny scar on his right leg from femur surgery he had in early 2005. He also has a longer scar on his stomach from surgery to repair a torn abdomen. Other than that, Ortega is unblemished, and he waxes his entire "exposed" body so he has no body hair.
RING ATTIRE: El Diablo's mask is blood red with golden accents that form eyelets and "horns" on the side of his head. Two sharp curved points slip down his jowl, covering his chin strap, but leaving his jaw and mouth open. His dark hair extends out of the back of his mask and down to his shoulder. In the ring, Ortega generally goes shirtless, but will wear various AWA tees to the ring before removing them for his match. He wears full length tights that are golden with red trimming. On his seat is OOO written in red flames and down either leg is EL DIABLO written in orange
TYPE OF WRESTLER: Lucha-Libre
PRIMARY FINISHER: Straight To Hell
PRIMARY FINISHER DESCRIPTION: A springboard C4 (flipping urinage suplex):
The S-T-H, as lovingly shouted by the fans upon it's execution, is a springboard flipping urinage suplex. Orlando will drape his arm across his opponent's chest as they're facing one another, and then he'll take off towards the nearby ropes. He uses his smaller frame to balance himself while he hops up onto the second rope and then leaps backward into the air with a moonsault. Only, he doesn't release his opponent, and they go flipping on with him, landing hard onto their backs. This move can only be done to opponents under two hundred fifty pounds and 6'8".
ALTERNATE FINISHER: To Hell And Back
ALTERNATE FINISHER DESCRIPTION: Around the World DDT:
A fan favorite where Orlando catches his opponent in a hurricanrana, but instead of twisting the move, he uses the spinning momentum to pull himself up with his legs so that he is able to grab his opponent around the head. The circular momentum continues, allowing him to connect with a tornado DDT. This move can be performed on any opponent and is commonly set up via Hellstrike.
submission finisher: La Cruceta del Enfermero (Figure Four):
submission finisher description: With his opponent lying on the mat, Orlando will grab one of his opponent's legs and step over it. He grabs his opponents other leg and bends it into a 90 degree angle so that it intersects his other leg. He then twists his body to apply pressure and, if warranted, will drop to the mat to add more pressure. This move can be done to any opponent.
set-up move: Hell Strike (Flying Shining Wizard):
set-up move description: From the top turnbuckle, rope, springboard, back of opponent's tag partner, or any other way Orlando can launch himself into the air, Ortega will unload with a huge spinning kick to his opponent's temple effectively knocking them out cold. Orlando can perform this move at a whim, so long as he's in the air, as he is extremely agile. It can also be used as a step-up Enziguri counter, like if an opponent catches a kick, he'll leap into the air, springing himself off their hands (or bodies), spin in the air and land the kick. Though rarely forcing a pin, it's a great move to turn the tide of the match. This move can be performed on any opponent, at any time, and is primarily showcased to set up one of Ortega's three finishers.

HISTORY: Born in 1983 as Orlando Olazabul Ortega, named after his father Olazabul Encarnacion Ortega, he grew up in a poverty stricken section of Colombia. He grew up like most boys did, stealing and spying for a powerful drug lord of the Esposito family. However, one night his father was killed by one of the Esposito's henchmen. As his father lay dying in a hospital bed, he made Orlando promise him that he would no longer grow to be such a ruthless person, and that he would take care of his mother. Orlando adhered to his father's wishes and began to pick up another hobby, 'futbol'… soccer. Orlando's natural athleticism allowed him to become one of Colombia's finest soccer players and, by the age of 14, he was touring with the Colombian National Team. One week, in a soccer tournament in Mexico City, Orlando visited a Luchador Especial in a local tavern. He had never seen anything quite like this before and immediately fell in love with the sport of wrestling. Orlando used his soccer fame to make a name for himself in the squared circle, and his natural abilities allowed him to quickly excel. He soon became known as the greatest luchador of all time when Cavernaria Galindo, a Mexican legend, called him thus after a show one night. (Although, this is often believed to be a myth.) Nevertheless, it rang true, because Ortega would go on to become undefeated in lucha competition and a Mexican hero. When he was twenty, he became witness to the greatest spectacle of all time. In August of 2003, in his home country, he saw AWA Classic live. Immediately, Ortega fell in love with the AWA and pursued a contract. He left Mexico City a hero and a legend, and within a year, was signed with the AWA.
On his first night in the AWA, at Classic 2004 in Toronto, Canada, at the young age of 21, Orlando made a promise to himself and to his fans that, in the name of his Papa, he would become Cruiserweight champion by the end of the year, in order to finally bring honor to his family name. Ortega quickly became a fan favorite, especially with the ladies, for his charisma and unique aerial style combined with lucha libre techniques. It didn't take long for him to become a superstar.
Since then, Orlando has made a big name for himself in the AWA as one of the few good guys in the company. Over his two year AWA career, he's already been a Cruiserweight Champion three times and had great battles with AWA Hall of Fame members Fish and Nighmist as well as memorable matches with the likes of, Legendary Low, Jack Happy, Brian Williams, Jayson Price and Atlas Johansson. Of course, his career hasn't always been so great. Orlando holds the record for being on the losing end of the shortest match in AWA history after Brian Stevens landed a vicious palm strike to OOO's injured abdomen before the bell, picking up a quick pinfall in the minimum three seconds. Ortega has also been through some rough patches personally, most notably bouts with severe depression and addiction.
After winning his first Cruiserweight Title in 2004, Orlando's upbeat, happy go-lucky personality began changing. He grew obsessed with the fast paced lifestyle of the AWA and began living in vice, drinking regularly and being loose with many women. He turned his back on his adoring public as well, blinded by his own arrogance into thinking they were jealous of him. Only one fan would stick by OOO's side through it all. The young Lillian Villenueva, who Orlando ridiculed senselessly after discovering she had cancer. It took an act of friendship, compassion and God to let Orlando see the error of his ways and, thanks to Atlas Johansson and Lillian Villenueva, he would. He's been an honorable competitor and a great person since then.
Ortega would go one to climb the ranks of the AWA, eventually become a full fledged Main Event superstar. At Classic in 2005, Orlando Ortega and Fish would compete in what is widely considered the greatest Cruiserweight match in AWA history. Fish would win that match, taking the title from Orlando. They had a rubber match at the very next pay per view, Overpower, which would be the first and only AWA PPV event that featured the Cruiserweight Title as its Main Event. Fish would again come out the victor, cementing his status as an AWA Hall of Famer, but his outstanding performances drew a lot of eyes in Ortega's direction.
During Orlando's most notable feud with Fish, Lillian would lose her battle with cancer. Once again he would make a promise to a loved one to change, and he has for the better. He no longer partakes in any vice and lives life to its fullest, and it's helped him be more successful in the ring as well.
But tragedy would not stop at the death of his greatest friend. Just more than a year later, on September 24, 2006, in Phoenix at the AWA pay-per-view event Overpower, Ortega's life would change forever. After a conniving ruse laid by Low to have Ortega's mother deported, "Mama Ortega" as she as popularly known, suffered a heart attack from the controversy. Ortega not only lost the brutal match, but he lost his beloved mother as well. Ortega immediately fell into a deep depression. Ironically, these tragic events would follow the highest point of OOO's career thus far, when he defeated hardcore AWA legend Nightmist in a No Limits contest to win the NL Championship in what is widely considered to be one of the best hardcore matches in AWA history, another memorable Classic match, this time from 2006.
Ortega would go on sabbatical from the American Wrestling Alliance for two months to be treated, before briefly returning for a one time feud with his old friend, Javex Valerius. Ortega and Valerius were luchadors together in Mexico, although Ortega had much more success. In an interesting twist, Orlando Ortega would play the "rudo", or heel, of the match, simply for entertainment purposes, donning his old luchador mask and becoming the entity known as El Diablo. Ortega accepted the challenge laid by his old friend and they competed in a stand out match at Wrestlefest 2006, which Javex would win to retain his Cruiserweight championship. So overwhelmed by the warm welcome the AWA fans gave him, Ortega decided to return to action full time and would use his loyal fans as a support. Not cleared to compete full time by his psychiatrist, and still holding many bitter feelings towards Low, Ortega had to endure a few more months of counseling before he was finally ready to get back in action, a clean bill of health.
But his success would be short lived. Upon returning, Orlando Ortega got into a feud with DooM. The two would meet at No More Drama in 2007 in a backstage brawl. DooM won the match by tossing Ortega off a balcony into an empty dumpster, rendering Ortega unable to compete. Seriously injured and devastated, Ortega began taking painkillers. In September of that year, Orlando Ortega defeated Evan Heir to win the Cruiserweight Title. Unfortunately, it became known that Ortega had failed a drug test for the third time and he was released from the company the next day. The AWA stripped Ortega's title and expunged it from the record books. Ortega wouldn't appear in the AWA again for over a year.
After his AWA life, Ortega began touring the European circuit, making guest appearances throughout England. He took this time to clean himself up, as well. He draw moderate crowds, but he longed for the fast paced life of the AWA, and moreso, he missed his home in San Antonio, Texas. In July of 2008, Orlando Ortega would be absolved. AWA President Travis Gray called him and informed him that the AWA would be closing and he would like Ortega to appear on their final show ever, 2008's Classic. Although tentatively scheduled to compete, Ortega would only appear on the show doing an in ring shoot promo to apologize to the fans for his shortcomings. Moved by his genuine apology, Travis Gray decided to make amends for denying Ortega the Cruiserweight belt he so coveted and awarded Ortega the belt, ensuring that he would be the last AWA Cruiserweight Champion ever. Although, rumors abound that Ortega may have contributed to Gray's turnaround monetarily, although this has yet to be confirmed (or denied).
Ortega felt that it was quite ironic that after he finally turned his life around for good, and was ready to become the megastar he was destined to be, the AWA closed. He immediately sought work elsewhere. A quick phone call and Orlando Ortega was signing the dotted line for Nathan Reid and the XWCWF! Orlando Ortega, taking on his El Diablo persona once again, has stated his sole goal is to accomplish what he came so close to doing in the AWA: win a World Title, by any means necessary.
