Sarah stops behind her husband as he stands there for a moment, staring out around the crowd, getting psyched up for the upcoming match. A short while later, NHL explodes from his trance with excitement, bursting with energy. He walks down the ramp, throwing his arms in the air, pumping himself up and the crowd for the upcoming clash. NHL then pauses in front of the ring for a few seconds, as if he couldn't wait to get in. Nathan then makes his way to the ring steps, taking his time climbing up each step. NHL gets to the top and he takes his time getting into the ring through the top and middle ropes. Sarah follows her husband to the ring, entering from under the middle rope. HISTORY: Nathan Lee, an aspiring wrestler, found a good manager/valet in Sarah Hawthorne. After a few years of being partners, and dating, they finally decided to get married. Nathan, having a hard time deciding on what to name his wrestler, went to his wife for advice. Since she is a professional, she decided to keep her maiden name for business reasons. She was playing around with a few things when she decided that he should hyphenate his last name, making it Nathan Hawthorne-Lee, and her reason for her last name to be first was so that he could have the 'nickname' NHL. Nathan found it pretty catchy. After wrestling for a while, he found that people used to make fun of him because of the NHL name. Nathan, who used to watch some hockey, started hating it, hence having the gimmick of a man cursed with the NHL initials, while hating hockey.
Nathan has always been an easygoing guy, just going with the flow of things. But, when he gets mad, he gets mad. He gets it to the point of snapping on the source of the anger. Anger management wasn't always his thing, so he takes every incident at a time and has learned to control his anger, so he has few outbursts, and they happen very few and far between. He is a great technical wrestler, but chooses to deviate from that style every now and then to throw off his opponents.
After NHL's great performance at Wrestlefest VI, Snake, John "Fury" Heights, and Maria asked NHL if he and his wife would like to be members of Toxic Melody. After some consideration, NHL decided to become a member of Toxic Melody and after winning the No Limit Championship on December 19, 2004, becoming the 2nd person in history to hold the title, he has made an impact on the AWA with the help and guidance of Snake. NHL reluctantly assisted Snake in the attacks of Bryan Peek, Colin Baird, BlackJack, Andreas Lasiewicz, and Maxx Skabb a little after Hell on Earth 2005.
After winning the No Limit Championship, NHL has been suffering from massive migraine headaches that sometimes cause the emergance of a darker and more sinister side of NHL that no one has ever seen before. NHL has been seeing a psychologist to try to find out why this is happening, but he can only think of back when he had his first match, that's when the problem started. Is this split personality disorder? Or is this NHL's true side? Only time will tell.
Upon finding out that Maxx Skabb wouldn't do all he was payed to do, NHL and Snake attacked Maxx Skabb, the fifth and last person on the list. NHL soon figured out, with the help of a psychologist, that it was the stress from the Battle Royal, NHL's debut match, and the fact that Maxx Skabb was putting this stress on NHL, that caused him to suffer from this dissociative personality disorder. Since learning of this, NHL has tried with all of his might to rid himself of this "disease", even by trying to put Maxx Skabb on the shelf, but it didn't work. NHL's darker side, Henry, is still around, causing the dislocated right shoulder of Maxx Skabb and is still haunting NHL. Also, with the let down of Snake's performance in the whole month of February 2005, how will NHL react once he confronts Snake at Vortex?
At Vortex, NHL let out his frustrations on Snake by powerbombing Snake through a stack of Glass Tables, which were there for a possible Triple Glass Table Match. During Vortex, NHL defeated Maxx Skabb to retain his AWA No Limit Championship in a boiler room brawl. NHL won the match because Skabb threw NHL through a glass window in the office section of the boiler room, causing NHL to win the match. NHL suffered a concussion from the match and was on the shelf for a few weeks, but that didn't keep NHL away from AWA business, as his wife, Sarah, was being plagued by the stalking videos of a Prowler. Maxx demanded a rematch for the No Limit Championship from interim AWA Commissioner Lethal Louise, but she wanted Maxx and Nathan to sign a "No Tolerance" Clause for the rematch, which would have dire consequences if that clause would be broken. It was during this signing that Maxx Skabb revealed that he was the Prowler that was stalking his wife, showing intimate videos of Sarah. Will NHL get his revenge on Maxx Skabb and get him off his back for good at Springs and Breaks 2005?
At Springs and Breaks, NHL defeated Maxx Skabb in a hard fought match that resulted in NHL trying to end the career of Maxx Skabb by almost breaking Maxx's arm. That didn't work, as Maxx was back in action sooner than expected. NHL had a match against the "Epitome of Physical Fitness", Poppa. After a hard fought match, NHL retained his No Limit Championship. The following title defense proved to be the challenging title defense, as NHL had more on the line than just retaining his title. In a match against "The Sensation" Brian Stevens, NHL was able to retain in what proved to be his toughest title defense to date. After the match, Stevens stole the No Limit Championship from NHL. The following week, NHL celebrated his 125th-Day Anniversary of his No Limit Championship, but the title was nowhere to be seen. Coming up, at Revelations 2005, NHL has the opportunity to defeat Brian Stevens, and make one step closer to history and try to become the longest reigning champion...EVER!
Though his plans to hold the title longer than 168 days were foiled by President Gray, NHL continued to persevere even after his title was stripped from him only 145 days into his No Limit title reign, the fifth longest in AWA history. NHL's match at Revelations against Brian Stevens was for a shot at qualifying slot in the King of the Kage tournament to crown a new AWA World Heavyweight Champion. NHL won this match against Brian Stevens, but after a brutal shot to the back of his head as his alter ego, Henry, NHL has changed. NHL is now under the control of Henry, and Nathan is now the recessive personality and Henry is dominant. NHL has also now aligned himself with Brian Stevens and has changed his name to Nathaniel Henry Lee. How will this new era of terror continue?
NHL had the opportunity to challenge for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship, but a feud with Low derailed his chance at glory in the first round, where the feud between the two for the past month ended with NHL gone. With the necessity for success the only driving force within him now, he and his new tag team partner, Brian Stevens, forged the alliance of Damage, Incorporated. Damage, Inc. (for short) ran well together. They were beginning to swallow up the tag team division and eventually earned a shot at the AWA Tag Team Championship against Bad Blood, Jeff Christianson and C-Rock. In their first try, Damage, Inc. disqualified themselves and ended the match with a brutal beating on one of the greatest tag teams in AWA history...arguably, that is. With this feud kicking into high gear, a match was signed at Classic with Damage, Inc. going against Bad Blood. Just two weeks before this match, Damage, Inc. did the impossible and actually became the first team to actually defeat Bad Blood in a match and the first team to strip them of the titles. NHL and Stevens rolled into Classic 2005 with the goal of coming out alive in their treaturous Double-Dog Collar Match. This match was easily one of the best of the night and both teams put on wrestling clinics, but it was Damage, Inc. who won that battle.
Henry had other plans and he pegged a huge bullseye on the former United States turned Polish Heavyweight Champion, Andreas Lasiewicz. After Lasiewicz enjoyed a long run with the US Title, Henry was booked against Lasiewicz and defeated him for that title. Things for Damage, Inc. and Nathaniel Henry Lee were looking up. NHL was a double champion and the leader of a strong faction of he, Brian Stevens, and Onslaught. But, glory in the tag division wasn't going to last forever and the unlikely tag team of John and Brian Williams defeated Damage, Inc. at OverPower. NHL, distrought over the loss of his tag team titles, NHL focused on the US Title. However, things looked grim when Cynder came back from injury and took out NHL after a match. NHL sidelined Cynder and now Cynder was looking for payback. So, at Last Man Standing, NHL would defend his United States Championship against Cynder in a Last Man Standing match. As the PPV grew nearer, the AWA was sold to a Japanese firm by Travis Gray. Last Man Standing was cancelled and the AWA dead.
NHL thought he was the last ever United States Champion and he took his belt and went home. However, it turned out that the new owner, Keiko Ono, was interested in seeing one last AWA PPV, so Last Man Standing was on. NHL, distrated by outside and personal demons with the constant re-emergance of Nathan, was not all together in his match and lost the AWA United States Title match. He was titleless and he was on the brink of self implosion. When all seemed lost, it turned out that Low and Whisper really bought the AWA and it went on. A man with a plan, known as Lars Fredrickson, teamed up with Nathaniel Henry Lee and Brian Stevens and the three were the main generals in the fight for the death of the AWA. But, a returning Family gave them a run for their money. Damage, Inc. defeated the Paramedics in a match, but they couldn't do it against most of the Family. At Wrestlefest VII, Lars Fredrickson teamed with Damage, Inc. and took on Family members Jonathon Lightning, Steven Striker, and Ray Owens in the first ever Family Steel Cage Survival match. Again, things weren't in the favor of Damage, Inc. that night as they lost that match and Low won his struggle for power and opted to keep the AWA open.
Breaking into the New Year, NHL has a new plan ahead of him, and that's to fight for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship. Will this happen is anyone's guess. Hell on Earth is around the corner and NHL has been picked to enter the Hell Bowl Chamber to face Brian Williams, John Williams, Andreas Lasiewicz, Jeff Christianson, and current AWA World Champion...Brian Stevens. Can NHL overcome his demons, pride, and past to win this hellacious match?
During his match at Hell on Earth, participating in his first ever Hell Bowl Chamber, NHL received lots of head trauma throughout the match. This ultimately had Henry change into Nathan, back into Henry, into Nathan again, and then back into Henry one final time. NHL was ultimately eliminated after having his head beat so badly, he lost consciousness and was "submitted" by Brian Williams, even though he was unconscious before the hold was in place. Shortly thereafter, on the first Xplosion since Hell on Earth, NHL was the victim of a brutal accident that caused him more aggrivation to his Hell Bowl injuries and he also suffered a case of laryingitis. On the following Shock, after Damage, Inc. dispatched the team of John Williams and Logan Alexander, NHL turned on his partner, Brian Stevens, the current reigning AWA World Heavyweight Champion, and signed an open contract...under the name of Nathan Hawthorne-Lee. Now that Brian Stevens vs. NHL is solidified in stone, is Henry actually gone forever?
On an episode of Xplosion after Hell on Earth, Nathaniel Henry Lee suffered a serious accident. Steel beams fell from a shelving unit and knocked NHL down and out. His Damage, Inc. partner and friend, Brian Stevens, helped NHL out of the arena with the helo of Low's Property, Travis Gray. NHL came back at 100% a week later and Brian Stevens was just about to auction off a shot for his AWA World Heavyweight Championship at Vortex. After calling out The Hangman and King Chozen among others, it was Henry that turned on Stevens, hitting a SlapShot on Brian and the title. NHL signed his name on the contract, revealing that it was Nathan, not Henry, that's been in control since that serious accident. NHL went on to face "The Sensational" Brian Stevens at Vortex in a Stairway to Hell match for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship. In a stunning finish, Nathan pulled out a victory and won his first AWA World Heavyweight title.
That wasn't going to last long as Brian's Administration buddy, Low, wanted his title back. With cheating from every member of the Administration, Low won via submission when Lars Fredrickson took NHL's arm and waved it in the air and "tapped out". Seven days into his reign, and the dream's gone. However, seven days later, NHL got revengs on Low in a rematch on Shock. NHL battled the entire administration and Low himself and stole Low's 9th title reign's longevity and took back his 2nd World title. NHL went on to Springs And Breaks and with Team Gray, comprised of Travis Gray, NHL, Cynder, and Jeff Christianson, where he helped Gray win back control of his company, hence putting the Administration out of business.
A few days later, NHL lost his AWA World Heavyweight title to Lars Fredrickson in a stiffly contested AWA World Title match. But, a few days after this, Sarah Hawthorne went missing. Nathan went searching for his wife everywhere and then read a letter from his wife, which also went into detail about what may have triggered Nathan's mental disorder (Split Personality). Nathan then discovered that it was Brian Stevens that took Nathan's wife. NHL was absolutely furious. On sever episodes of Shock and the first episode of Exposed, Brian Stevens fondled, groped, and molsted Sarah Hawthorne on national television. To end this, the men decided that at Revelations they should have a match to find end their conflict. Brian agreed and at the new entitled No More Drama, aptly named, NHL and Brian Stevens battled for what would have been the final time. However, in a drastically unstable move, Sarah Hawthorne entered the ring when Nathan was litterally killing Brian Stevens by choking him to death. Sarah urged her husband to stop, but NHL didn't listen. Then, Sarah kicked Nathan in the groin and Brian got the pin on his enemy. Brian and Sarah kissed, WILLINGLY, in the ring and it was exposed that Sarah was behind this from the start.
Heartbroken, NHL set off to really try to kill Brian Stevens, however this turn of events pushed Nathan down a hard path. NHL was losing matches left and right and at King of the Kage, it wouldn't get any better. Sure, NHL pushed passed Jayson "Misery" Price, however in the semi-finals against Low, who one year ago pinned Henry to shut NHL out of the King of the Kage tournament, Brian Stevens came out and distracted NHL time after time until Low got the win. Then, after the match, Stevens came into the ring and physically assaulted NHL and then tried to end his career by injuring his right knee. NHL was carted off by EMTs and not heard from for several weeks.
It was on the closing moments of a Shock at the beginning of August that NHL made himself known. Brian Stevens had alligned himself with a faction called the Blood Court, but that didn't stop NHL. Nathan literally hacked into the show and broadcasted his signal saying that he will return soon to end this war with Stevens. NHL then appeared and took out all members of the Blood Court, trying desperately to finally KILL Brian. The next week, NHL tried again and was greeted with failure. Jessica Kassle then came on the scene and berrated Brian for what he's done. Jessica then unofficially started to help Nathan out by getting a contract signed by Brian under the guise of a car title transfer. On that same episode of Exposed, Nathan was met by dead end after dead end when Stevens would either run away from him or something would block his path. On the following Shock, NHL revealed that the car title transfer was a match at Classic under any stipulation he wanted. On the final episode of Shock before Classic, NHL revealed it was to be a Dog Collar match. Nathan finally beat the snot out of Brian to get some minor revenge on him before their scheduled match.
During the Classic weekend, Nathan was greeted with some awards. He won the Feud of the Year award for 2006 for his feud with Brian Stevens. Nathan also won the Match of the Year award for 2006 for his participation in the Hell Bowl Chamber for 2006. At Classic, Nathan and Jessica's sexual tension and flirting came to an end when they kissed just a half hour before their match. That was probably the last time she would see NHL unscathed because that Dog Collar match was probably the most brutal and death defying match ever in 2006 or maybe, arguably, the AWA in general. It was in this match that both men tried to kill each other. Brian busted Nathan's head through walls, Nathan tried to choke Brian, and then, Brian tried to hang Nathan over the second balcony at Telstra Stadium. Nathan, a minute from death, climbed up the chain, Rambo style, hand over hand, and pulled Brian over and switched the rolls on him. As Brian Stevens was choking to death, so was Nathan under the weight of Brian's body around his neck via the dog collar. Then, as both men were seconds from passing out for good, Nathan's grip slipped and they fell to the floor, rolled down the concrete steps to the fans' horror, and hit the bottom entangled in the chain. The Senior Referee noticed that Brian's shoulders were down and Nathan was on barely noticeably on Stevens and counted in NHL's favor to win. When he will return to the ring is unknown...
Well, that time was known. Nathan came back not too long after Classic and engaged in Jeff Christianson in a match at Overpower to see who was the better of the two in technical wrestling. At Overpower, Nathan and Jeff put on a wrestling clinic, but it wouldn't be Christianson to walk away with the glory that night. Afterwards, Nathan went on to face Logan Alexander for the AWA United States Championship. After a long and hard fought match, it was Nathan to come out on top of that as well to capture his "second" United States Championship. It's "second" because Henry was the one to win it first for NHL.
With Nathan as the United States Champion, he went on to Last Man Standing to face someone he hasn't been in the ring with since February 2005 - Snake. With Snake looking to get bloody revenge on NHL for being the reason why Snake lost over a year of his career, he was looking for revenge. On that night, both men fought in what turned out to be a submission-strong match. In the end, Nathan was able to defeat his former Toxic Melody brother/mentor and was able claim retribution on Snake for the path he led Nathan down during his early months in the AWA. It wouldn't be the last time these guys met.
The AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Low, appeared dead! Nathan, along with all of the members of the roster, were saddened by that loss to the AWA and wrestling family. NHL had only kind words to say about the Legendary Low, but it wouldn't be returned to him as he came down to attack NHL behind his back the night of this tribute show! Soon afterwards a match was scheduled with Nathan looking for a catch-as-catch-can match, but instead Low fired off the Low Rules match! Nathan accepted and on December 17, 2007 at Wrestlefest VIII, Nathan and Low met in a match where both the World Heavyweight AND United States titles were both on the line. After only three rounds, Nathan caught Low in a triangle choke and forced Low to submit! Nathan did the unthinkable and beat the unbeatable, forcing Low to consider and take an early retirement from the business.
In 2007, the first show of the year, Nathan defended his newly won World title against Snake. Nathan handily defeated an unfocused opponent and went on to defend against any and all comers. In the second show of the year, Nathan gave up his United States Championship only 80+ days into the reign. Nathan kept the World title so he could not only focus on defending that, but so others can enjoy the ability to be the US Champion. Nathan got into a fuss with Logan Alexander and that turned into something big as the two met at Hell On Earth in a No Limits Rules match. Logan, Low's apprentice and No Limits Champion, definitely had something to prove as he wanted retribution on NHL for causeing Low to leave the AWA (who subsequently came back that night to be a columnist on AWA_Online). Nathan, with his No Limits Match winning streak of NO LOSSES on the line, was able to defeat the crowned champion of the No Limits division and retain his World Title.
However, that time wouldn't be spent so easily afterwards, as Gabriel won the opportunity to face NHL at Vortex as he won the Hell Bowl Lottery at Hell On Earth. Nathan continued to defend his title and when the time came at Vortex, he defended it in a Crucifixion match which basically said that you needed to place cuffs on the wrist of your opponent and if they were both locked into place, you would win. In a near loss, Nathan was able to come out of the dog house and cuff up Gabriel, crucifying the holy man and retaining his World Title.
Fate and destiny wasn't on Nathan's side as he went to defend his title against Snake. On March 11, 2007, Nathan was defeated not by Snake, but by HENRY! NHL's evil alter ego Henry somehow became the dominant personality and we haven't heard or seen from Nathan since earlier that show. With Henry mysteriously the dominant personality, he challenge Snake to a last man standing match in which he lost Nathan's third AWA World Heavyweight Championship, allowing Snake to not only claim his first title reign but also get retribution on the true person that shelved him for so long (only over two years since the incident). What does this mean? Well, we'll find out.
As fate would have it we did find out exactly what happened. Henry wrestled in the Spring Break Chamber at Springs & Breaks where Brian Stevens, whom had reunited with Henry, retained his AWA World Heavyweight Championship. Henry was stuck with a shard of class after his cell was busted into shortly after being picked to go next in the match. Being pinned to the floor, the Special Guest Referee, the Legendary Low, pinned Henry's shoulders to the cage floor upon noticing the predicament after checking on his condition.
Shortly thereafter, Low would actually join the ranks of Damage, Incorporated as it's Chief Operational Officer. With the company of Low, the World Championship in Stevens' grasp, and Henry on the mend, things were going to only get better for the crew. And they did get better because on May 18th, 2007, Henry was knighted as Sir Nathaniel Henry Lee GBE, or Knight Grand Cross of the British Empire.
Now with Henry being a member of British high society, it was only a matter of time before Damage, Inc. struck! And strike it did! During the 6/3 Shock, Damage, Inc. attacked nearly half the roster, sending a notice that they were still around and a force to be reckoned with.
5/21/08 - More to be added at a later time.
