HISTORY: Early background- as a youth Jayson found himself stuck with his middle class parents who never seemed to understand his need for excitement and conflict. As a result of this Jayson would leave home during his teen years and embark on a spree of violence and drug use. Jayson continued upon this self destructive path until one day Jayson enetered a gym and discovered wrestling. Jayson worked in several local federations in his hometown of Las Vegas. Unfortunately the money he made from wrestling only led to him further exploiting his vices and using violence on a more regular basis. Until one day the Roulette Wrestling Alliance booked Jayson in a mixed tag match match with a lady known as Discovery. While either Misery nor Discovery knew each other at all they were both determined to be victorous in their match up so they trained together for it. After being victorious in the match Jayson was amazed to discover he actually had feelings for someone. However Discovery was repulsed by Jayson's drug use and excessive partying. Jayson, deciding he didn't want to lose the only women he ever cared about, cleaned up his life. He was even seen in the ring.. smiling. Both Jayson and the lady, real name of Annette Jansen continued to train hard together and spend more and more time together. By the beginning of 2000 it was hard to see one without the other. And because of their dedication to the sport both had improved so much they were invited to wrestle a tour of Japan. However on the flight over tragedy strike as the plane had problems landing and crashed. Jayson walked away with a few scratches, however Annette was not so lucky. She lost the sight in her left eye and her right hand as a direct result of her injuries. Jayson was unable to cope with what had happened to Anette and disappeard returning to the Orient to wrestle, completely numb of all emotions. It was then Jayson first donned the Misery mask. The always enigmatic Misery entered the AWA in 2002 dressed all in black and wearing a mask to conceal his true indentity. However once he was reunited with his old girlfriend Annette Misery unmasked and is now going by his given name, Jayson Price. Jayson however still enjoys playing mind games with his oppenents, referees, promoters and fans. He seems to take a particular pleasure in getting inside of his oppenent's heads. Very few people understand Jayson as he displays very erratic behavior acting completely different inside of the ring then he does in real life. Also his emotions are known to change at the drop of a hat. When Jayson first entered the AWA he quickly won the television champion and held it for a record lengh of time. However he didn't seem to gain any pleasure from this accomplishment instead he seemed to only enjoy hurting his oppenents. This changed when Jayson reconcilled with his old girlfriend Annette. After his change of attitude Jayson remained successful but was unable to reach the next level, ultimating losing a feud against then world champion Low. He rebounced by winning both the cruiserweight and hardcore championships. However he then accepted the challenge of a newcomer named Deathangel. Deathangel, now known as Brian Williams, not only took the hardcore champion but nearly ended Jayson's career. While he was off for several months Jayson vowed revenge.. but when he did finally return instead of targetting Brian he immediately joined the Blueprint and went after their rival stable AI instead winning the television championship back from Bryan Peek. After auscessfully defending against Peek Bryan manegd to win the championship back then was drafted to the rival show Shock, while Jayson was on Xpolosion. Things got worse for Jayson as the Blueprint was disbanded by Dave Santini and he and Jeff Christianson were savagely beaten. Since that point Jayson had a change of heart and recently destroyed Poppa in a street fight, getting revenge for Poppa's earlier win over him. He then earned a world title shot at Springs and Breaks by defeating the Fish in a very hard fought two out of three falls match. However at the ppv a strangely unmovated Price was defeated by Fish in a triple threat macth involving Low for the world championship. Then an equally unmovated Price was upset by C Rock. However days after his loss Jayson deflected to Shock accepting Brian Williams' open challenge at the funeral of Adam Bawm. LEading up to their epic battle Jayson said he was going to do what no one could and take Williams out before he could hurt anyone else. Few believed Brian could be defeated. However At Revelations Jayson did the impossible defeating and battering dominant world champion Williams in a texas death match. The next month he got revenge on Dave Santini by defeating him in a pair of matches successfully defending his world title. However he ran into the red hot Nightmist who dominated a distracted Jayson Price and captured the world championship. Jayson then exited the AWA due to personal and contract issues. He was going to wait until his contrat expired and look for work elsewhere but found the tempatation to oppose his hated rival Brian Williams in a graveyard match to be too great. Jayson returned once more and with help from Snake recaptured the heavyweight crown. Jayson would later drop the title in a unification bout with Jeff Christianson and never be seen again.. until late 2005 where he would reappear as a member of the anti AWA squad saying he didn't trust Low or Travis Gray but he would never be on the same side as Brian Williams. However his quest to defeat Brian Williams failed as in three seperate tag team matches he was ultimately defeated by the monster of the AWA his partners letting Misery down all three times. Jayson Price would however have the honour of facing The Fish in what turned out to be his final AWA contest. Misery would defeat the Fish in a classic contest to win his second AWA cruiserweight title. Afterwards the two men embraced to the approval of the crowd. However Jayson would soon turn his back on the fans embarking on a spree of carnage by forming the stable The Unholy Heroes with Draven Shadows and Quade Desade after a 6 man tag team match where the trio was successful. At the following show Quade and Misery would injure newcomer Eidolon during Misery's title defense against him ending the promising newcomers career. Jayson would then go onto battle Orlando Ortega losing the cruiserweight strap to him. Jayson however was enraged by Orlando making a joke about Jayson's girlfriend Annette and Misery responding by bloodying Ortega with a glass covered glove, and threatening to destroy the cruserweight belt once he regained it. Jayson did indeed recapture the title, but then he revealed it was a mind game to throw Ortega off his game. However Annette did not appreciate Price using her, and their already strained off scene relationship started to become strained on television. The duo agrued andf Misery's in ring performances started to suffer. The departure of the Unholy Heroes did not help Price's sagging fortunes. Eventually Annette and himself broke up, and a heartbroken and unfocused Price was dominated in a brief feud with Logan Alexander, losing his cruiserweight strap. Jayson would attempt to regroup and would finally score a victory over Logan in a three way dance to regain the title. However Jayson was still consumed by his loss of Annette. He was defeated in a contest by NHL, a man he had beaten a few months prior, and then he vowed he was depart to find himself if he couldn't retain his cruiserweight tiel against Terry James, Javex, and Tom Dudely. After a fierce battle Misery was defeated. It was thought he would be gone from the AWA for a lenghy period however Jayson chocked the world by returning a short week later by helping out his rivals, Terry James and Logan Alexander in their battle against his former teammates The Unholy Heroes. Jayson apprently had rediscovered his love for competition, and he had redisocvered his relaxed side thanks to a chance meeting with a young woman in a bar. Since his return Jayson has been since with many young women and appears to have rediscovered his since of humour and his confidance. But as always we wonder, just who is the real Jayson Price? Is this just another one of his mind games? Or is this really him?
It turned out it really wasn't.. Jayson would be very successful as a member of the group ECW holding several more titles until Logan Alexander would turn on him and join up with Low. After losing the No Liimit title he had won in a triple threat match against Logan and Low Jayson would revert to being Misery after a severe throat injury at the hands of Low and Logan Alexander. Misery would disppear within a month and little was heard of him until... Jayson Price himself would return late in 2007.
Jayson himself has said that this time his actions will speak louder than his words so we'll just have to wait and see just what the new Jayson Price is all about.
